1. What this policy covers
All products sold on Legal English TR are digital content delivered instantly online. Nothing is shipped, so nothing can be sent back. That is why our refund rules turn on one question: have you accessed the content?
- Legal English Training Set — TRY 11,990, one-time payment, one year (365 days) of access; dictionary included
- Premium App Subscription — TRY 349.99 per month or TRY 1,999.99 per year, recurring (7-day free trial on the yearly plan)
This policy forms part of the Distance Sales Agreement. Where the two differ, whichever is more favourable to the consumer applies.
2. The short version
The detail follows below; in brief:
| Situation | Outcome |
|---|---|
| You ask within 14 days and have never accessed the product | Full refund |
| You started a video, downloaded a file, or opened a premium section in the app | The right of withdrawal has ended; no refund (except for defective performance) |
| You cancel the subscription | Access continues to the end of the period you paid for; nothing further is charged |
| The content is unavailable or materially short of what was described | We fix it, extend your access, or refund you |
| Duplicate or incorrect charge | The excess is refunded unconditionally |
3. The right of withdrawal and the digital content exception
Under Turkish Law No. 6502 on the Protection of Consumers, the general rule for distance contracts is that a consumer may withdraw within 14 (fourteen) days without giving a reason.
The Distance Contracts Regulation, however, excludes services performed instantly in an electronic environment and intangible goods delivered instantly to the consumer from that right. The video lessons, the PDF dictionary and the Premium App subscription all fall into that category.
The exception is not automatic. It applies only where the consumer gives separate consent at the moment of purchase and declares that they accept losing the right of withdrawal. So before any order can be completed, we collect this declaration at checkout through a checkbox separate from the acceptance of the documents (the pre-contractual information form, the Distance Sales Agreement and this policy):
"I ask for delivery of the digital content to begin immediately with my consent, and I understand that my right of withdrawal ends when it does."
Payment cannot be completed without ticking that box. The date, time and IP address of the consent are recorded and sent to you on request.
4. Never accessed it? Full refund
Going beyond what the law requires: if you contact us within 14 days of purchase and have never accessed the product, we refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason.
"Never accessed" means:
- No video lesson started — not even for a few seconds
- Neither the study document nor the PDF dictionary downloaded
- No premium section opened in the mobile app (for the subscription)
We check this against the system records tied to your account. Simply signing in, or looking at the lesson list, does not count as access.
5. Once you have accessed the content
The moment you start a video lesson, download a file or open a premium section in the app, performance has begun and the right of withdrawal ends. You need not have used all of it; partial access still counts.
That does not close the door on refunds entirely. We still refund or compensate where:
- The content cannot be reached for technical reasons (see section 7)
- The content falls materially short of what the sales page described
- A charge was duplicated or taken in error
We also consider requests made in exceptional circumstances such as serious illness or bereavement, in good faith and on production of supporting documents. That is a discretionary practice, not an entitlement.
6. Cancelling and renewing the subscription
- The subscription — the Premium App Subscription, in monthly or yearly periods as you choose — renews automatically at the end of each period.
- The yearly Premium App plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Cancel during the trial and nothing is charged; otherwise the yearly price is charged when the trial ends and the first period starts that day.
- You can cancel at any time from the subscription section of your account or by emailing info@legalenglishtr.com. No reason is needed and there is no cancellation fee.
- Cancelling does not cut off access immediately: it continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. Access then closes and nothing further is charged.
- There is no partial refund for the current period, because the service keeps running until it ends. The never-accessed first period in section 4 is the exception.
- We email a reminder before each renewal. Any price change is announced at least 30 days ahead, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
- The one-year premium app access included in the training set is not a subscription: it is not charged separately and does not renew automatically.
7. If we cannot supply the service
The withdrawal period expiring does not affect your statutory rights in respect of defective services under Law No. 6502.
- Outages: if you cannot reach the content for reasons on our side, we fix it within a reasonable time and extend your access, free of charge, by the length of the outage.
- If we cannot fix it: where access cannot be restored within a reasonable time you may terminate and claim a refund, or ask for a price reduction.
- Service withdrawn: if we stop offering a product you bought before your access period ends, we refund the part proportionate to the time remaining.
- Content short of description: where what we supply falls materially short of the essential characteristics on the sales page, you may exercise your statutory remedies.
- Duplicate charges: where the same product was charged more than once, the excess is refunded unconditionally within 14 days of us identifying it.
- Problems on your own equipment: issues with your connection, device or browser are not grounds for a refund, though our support team will try to help.
8. How to make a request
Step 1 — Email info@legalenglishtr.com. Putting "Refund request" in the subject line speeds things up.
Step 2 — Include:
- Your name and surname
- Your order number (it is in your order confirmation email)
- The email address registered to your account
- Which product you bought
- What you are asking for: withdrawal, cancellation, or a defect report
Step 3 — We reply within two working days. We check your access record and confirm the outcome in writing.
You do not have to email us to cancel a subscription — one click in the subscription section of your account does it.
9. How and when refunds are paid
- Approved refunds are processed within 14 days of your request reaching us.
- Refunds go back to the same card and by the same method used to pay. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
- No fee or deduction is applied to a refund.
- How long it takes to appear on your statement is up to your bank — usually 2 to 10 working days.
- For payments taken in instalments, your bank may return the refund in instalments too.
- We email you once the refund has been issued.
10. When we do not refund
- The content was accessed after the declaration at checkout (subject to the exceptions in section 5)
- The 14-day withdrawal period has passed
- The access period has simply run out (one year — 365 days — for the training set, dictionary included) and the content has closed
- The unused part of a current subscription period
- The account was closed for sharing or copying the content without permission
- Problems caused by your own device, browser or internet connection
- A subjective view that the content did not meet expectations, where it was supplied as described on the sales page
